I recently noticed that this site has been neglected. My excuse is "facebook," which is really no excuse. I can write longer and more here on the blog, and I should definitely start doing so. Since my last post, I have: moved back to West Palm Beach, started a new job, begun water training with Medusirena Marina, performed several shows and gigs with Masala, Hips of Destruction and solo, created costumes, mermaid tails, and a TON of other stuff.
I recently found out that Owain Phyfe, a great musician and friend, is in the hospital and unable to work. He, as a Renaissance Performer, has no insurance and no income while not working. I am making a personal cash donation, that while not much, I hope helps in some way. I am also looking for a venue to try and organize a Zumba fundraiser for him and Lady Paula. If I can find a venue, with a date and other instructors, anything outside of venue rent will be donated directly to Owain and Lady Paula. More on that as it updates.
The Zumba Instructor's Convention is rapidly approaching, and I am excited! I will be training in Sentao (the newest format) and Zumba Toning! I am hoping to start teaching Zumba on a more regular basis, and I will be licensed to teach all of the formats! The same weekend as that Convention is MerPaolooza, the mermaid convention, which I was not planning on attending. However, Hips of Destruction will be performing with Tales from the Last Inn, a musical act. We plan to dance with out dangerous toys (swords, fire, etc) and hope that this may lead to collaborations to perform throughout Florida. If so, awesome, if not, it will be one night of an awesome performance!
The weekend AFTER that, I return to Weeki Wachee Springs for my third Sirens of the Deep mermaid camp. I have fabric and materials and need to begin assembling my ensemble for that. I feel that I have improved a LOT in my swimming and underwater skills, and hope that I can show that, and maybe get some good pictures and videos from it.
The next two weekends are filled with Adrian Empire events, a local one and our Imperial Crown War. Then, maybe I can rest, and just train dance and swim for a while, letting life calm down a bit.
As a side note: I have lost almost thirty pounds from my post blood clot weight gain. I was sadly up to 199 lbs, and now am down quite a bit. I have at least 20 more pounds to go, but diet and exercise is working for me, in a healthy way.
